Why Keeping A Journal Is So Important Through High School || July 18, 2019.
For the first half of my high school career, I didn't journal. My life was so busy and to be quite honest with you, I didn't even think about even starting one. One day though, I found an old "diary" that I had kept from, like, fourth grade and I came to the realization that I should start one for the point of my life that I'm in right now. So, I picked up one of the random notebooks I had sitting around and began.
At first, it was a journal with a lot of arts and crafts aspects to it, which I LOVED but had no time to work on, so it dwindled out. But around the end of November, I picked up one of the other notebooks I had lying around my room and started to just write. And it was so freeing. It didn't take much time, and I updated (and still do, haha) at night. It didn't take much time and I seemed to clear my mind even whenever it felt like there nothing to clear.
One of the greatest things about keeping a journal is that no one really even knows that I have it. I write about how terrible or amazing my day was and update my journal on the drama that's happening (that, at the time, feels like it's never going to end!) and no one except for me will ever read it (I hope). I also love it because something recently happened to me and I had the whole process documented and my original thoughts about it because I journaled. My initial thoughts and feelings are forever encapsulated within it, and it's so fun to look back at even if it's only been six months since I started it.
You may not belive it right now, (hell I don't even sometimes) but high school goes by so fast, and it's a shame that I have hardly any of my freshman year documented. So much stuff is happening within my life (and there always is, even if you don't believe there is!) and it's honestly crazy that all of it is written down in black ink beside my bed.
This is more of a "dump post" but I hope the message still stands: it's so important to document your life, especially in high school. You'll never know what could happen :)
